The Crochet Popsicle Garland is a free pattern here on my blog! This quick and easy summer crochet pattern is also great for coasters or appliques. Below you'll find the free pattern and video tutorial.
Pattern Design + Construction:
Garlands are one of my favorite crochet projects to design. They're a quick and easy way to add a handmade, affordable and festive touch of décor to any space. This pattern is so versatile! These crochet popsicles are adorable hung as bunting at a summer party. They're also the perfect size for summer crochet coasters or cute little appliques!
This Crochet Popsicle Garland consists of the popsicle base which is crocheted in flat rows. The base border is added directly onto the base as well as the popsicle stick. The rosy cheeks are crocheted separately and attached to the base using a tapestry needle. We'll also pop in some safety eyes. The finished crochet popsicle measures approximately 3 inches wide by 5.5 inches tall. You could easily make a larger popsicle garland by using bulkier yarn and a larger crochet hook.

Yarn:
For this free pattern, we'll be using medium (4) worsted weight yarn. I really enjoy using worsted weight yarn for most of my projects because of the versatility as well as the availability in most craft stores. Worsted weight yarn also tends to come in very affordable brands. You can easily substitute with other brands and colors as long as the ounces per gram are similar. I've used the following for this project:
For this project, I'm using the following yarn colors:
Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 7 oz / 198 g, in the color Lavender
Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 7 oz / 198 g, in the color Pretty N' Pink
Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 7 oz / 198 g, in the color Pumpkin
Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 7 oz / 198 g, in the color Café Latte
I Love This Yarn, Medium 4, 7 oz / 199 g, in the color Light Peach
I Love This Yarn, Medium 4, 7 oz / 199 g, in the color Ocean
A good substitute for the blue is Minty by Red Heart Super Saver.

Popsicle Assembly:
Attach the safety eyes between the 10th and 11th rows when counting from the bottom-up on the finished popsicle base. Use a wire cutter to trim the excess posts from the back of the eyes so it will lay flat.
Using the tail on the rosy cheeks and a tapestry needle, stitch the cheeks underneath and slightly outside of the eyes. Tie off on the backside and trim any excess yarn.
Using a tapestry needle and jute, string your finished popsicles into a garland by running the jute through two points on the back top of the popsicles.
