The Crochet Baby Turtle is a free pattern here on my blog. This is a beginner friendly, quick amigurumi animal. Below you'll find the free pattern and video tutorial.
Pattern Design + Construction:
This tiny crochet turtle is the perfect, mess-free pet for a little one or a thoughtful handmade gift for the turtle-lover in your life! This is a great pattern for amigurumi beginners! It's quick and uses simple, basic stitches.
Each Crochet Baby Turtle consists of the head, shell, belly, arms and legs which are crocheted separately, stuffed and stitched together using a tapestry needle. The finished crochet turtle measures approximately 3.5 inches. You could easily make a larger turtle by increasing your yarn and crochet hook sizes.

Yarn:
We're using medium (4) worsted weight yarn for our crochet baby turtle design! I love working with worsted weight yarn in most of my projects since it's affordable, versatile, durable and available in most local craft stores. Worsted weight yarn is great for small amigurumi projects! You could easily substitute for another worsted weight yarn as long as the ounces per gram are similar.
For this tutorial, I'm using the following yarn colors:
Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 7 oz / 198 g. in the color Orchid
Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 7 oz / 198 g. in the color Jade
I Love This Yarn, Medium 4, 7 oz / 199 g, in the color Ocean
I Love This Yarn, Medium 4, 7 oz / 199 g, in the color Periwinkle
For the darker greens in some of the photos below, I'm not 100% sure of the colors since I made it back in 2017 for my niece. My best guess is Red Heart Super Saver in the colors Tea Leaf and Thyme.
